Fernando Duran

Dear Monroe Families,

Welcome to Monroe Elementary, where every child’s future begins today.

As the proud principal of Monroe Elementary since 2019, I am honored to serve a school community deeply committed to preparing students for success in college, career, and life. At Monroe, we believe in the power of bilingualism, innovation, and community to shape tomorrow’s leaders.

Monroe offers a unique educational experience that includes a rigorous Dual Language Immersion Program, STEM-focused learning opportunities, and a strong commitment to academic excellence. Our dedicated educators work together to provide high-quality instruction that helps students develop the academic, linguistic, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

We are also proud to be a Community School. Through this model, we continue to strengthen the connection between home, school, and community by expanding supports and opportunities for students and families. Our work is grounded in family and community engagement, integrated student supports, shared leadership, and expanded learning opportunities that support the whole child.

As many of you know, Monroe is currently located at the Edison campus while our new school building is being constructed. Monroe will remain at Edison until our new building is completed, which is currently projected to open in the fall of 2027. This future campus represents an important investment in our students, families, and our community. We look forward to returning to our permanent home with a beautiful new learning environment designed to support teaching, learning, and student success for many years to come.

With gratitude,

Fernando Duran
